A more budget-conscious sibling of the XL-H1 HDV camcorder, the Canon XH-A1 still retains the professional attributes to support the avid videographer. It features three high quality 1/3" CCDs that yields crisp and noise-free imagery at 1080i resolution. With selectable frame rates of 60i, 30 Frame and 24 Frame, users can create films and capture fast motion sport action and spontaneous events with confidence. Moreever, using the very efficient HDV compression format affords more than an hour of high definition recording on a single miniDV tape.

XH-A1's 20x flourite fixed lens features optics that provides image fidelity. Its DIGI DV II image processor processes both HD and SD video signals, as well as still photos, and is complemented by Instant AF which works in conjuction with HD technology to provide much speedier and more accurate focusing. Independent rings for focus, zoom, and aperture offer user greater control and precision. The available Super-Range Optical Image Stabilisation is an optical function that compensates for the effect of camera shake to a greater degree and maintains a higher image quality than when electronic or digital stabilising methods are used.
