24mm f/3.5 TS-E
Tilt Shift Lens
The 24mm f/3.5 TS-E from Canon is a special-purpose tilt and shift lens that is designed to correct perspective distortion and depth of field. This makes it an excellent choice for a variety of subjects including landscapes, studio and architectural photography.
Tilt allows the plane to be tilted, allowing perfect focus along any plane, not just the plane of the sensor as with a normal camera. Shift then keeps parallel lines exactly parallel. For example, pointing a camera up at a building makes the top look small. However this lens allows the lens to be shifted up so that the camera remains horizontal and therefore the building will remain straight.
A large-diameter ground and polished glass aspherical lens is used for the front element, correcting distortion and coma that tends to occur on tilt and shift movements. A floating design provides sharp and high-contrast images from the closest focusing distance of 0.3m to infinity.
Electronic control of the lens diaphragm by EMD (Electromagnetic Diaphragm) enables AE (Auto-Exposure), however please note that metering will not work when the lens is shifted. The exposure must be locked in the unshifted position, then shifted back to your chosen position. The lens is also manual-focus only.
