The Canon RF 85mm f/2 Macro IS STM lens combines a short-telephoto perspective with close-focusing performance in a sleek design with a RF-mount. This well-rounded lens suits a range of subjects from portraits to macro subjects, thanks to its 85mm focal length and a close-focus design that enables the lens to capture subject matter as up close as 35cm away with a 1:2 maximum magnification. A modest and bright f/2 maximum aperture benefits working in available lighting conditions while the STM stepping motor provides for silent, smooth, and accurate autofocus performance and full-time manual override. An Optical Image Stabiliser, which minimises the appearance of camera shake by up to five stops, enables sharper imagery during handheld shooting and when working with slower shutter speeds. A Hybrid IS setting, which compensates for angular and shift-type camera movements, specifically benefits close-up shooting. Optically, the 12-elements-in-11-groups lens features a UD (Ultra Low Dispersion) element to ensure clarity by minimising aberrations. For an intuitive tactile control, a configurable Control Ring permits adjustment to exposure settings from the lens itself. A rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasant bokeh quality.
