Full-Frame Mirrorless Digital Camera Body

The Sigma fp L is a compact, modular mirrorless camera that updates the original fp with a new higher resolution 61MP full-frame sensor, improved autofocus performance, as well as an even more versatile feature set to benefit both stills and video applications. Maintaining the portable form of the original fp and compatibility to accessories, the fp L is versatile enough to operate as part of a camera rig or as a travel camera.

Characterised by a new 61MP full-frame BSI CMOS sensor with a Bayer style colour filter array, the fp L features an increased resolution that benefits photography requiring greater details and improves sharpness of video recording through down sampling. In addition, the ultra-high resolution enables the Crop Zoom function which permits you to crop into the image by up to 5x as if working with a working focal length. The inclusion of a low-pass filter also helps to suppress moire for a more accurate colour rendering. A low noise and sensitivity of up to ISO 25600 that provides for working in low-light conditions is afforded by the BSI design. With on-chip phase-detection autofocus as part the sensor's design, the fp L features an intelligent hybrid AF system with improved focusing speed and accuracy that helps to track moving subjects. The autofocusing also performs well in various lighting conditions and is accurate down to -5 EV and has 42 selectable points to choose from via the touchscreen interface. A lossless compressed 14-bit raw stills are saved as DNG files for post-production editing and continuous shooting at full resolution is supported at up to 10 fps.

This compact mirrorless camera features a full-time electronic shutter for a quiet and shake-free shooting with a top shutter speed of 1/8000 sec and an electronic image stabilisation to aid in shake reduction when recording videos. Like its predecessor, it offers high performance for video applications and records UHD 4K up to 30p and Full HD 1080 up to 120p internally, or DCI 4K24p if recording externally. The fp L can record 8-bit CinemaDNG files to an SD card, ouput 12-bit CinemaDNG over USB-C, or 12-bit Raw files over HDMI. A unique feature of the fp L is its capacity to be used with a Director's Viewfinder mode to simulate shooting range, frame guide, and field of view of other cinema cameras, rendering it a useful tool for filmmakers who are working with other cameras in production environments.

Sigma's "Teal and Orange Mode" provides for video content fine-tuning by creating high contrast between orange colours, which are found in human skin tones, and teal colours, which are complements for the orange. Two new Colour Modes - Powder Blue and Duotone - have been added to fp L. These in-camera adjustments over colour and tone can be applied and adjusted directly to footage. An integrated Cinemagraph function permits the production of unique hybrid images that blend the movement of video with a still image.

The versatile, modular design of the this camera allows it to be built up using accessories to cater to specific production needs, thanks to tts compatibility to accessory handgrips, viewfinders, plates, and a hot shoe unit, as well its L-lens mount. Three 1/4"-20 threaded mounts - two on the sides and one on the bottom - facilitate the mounting of these accessories. There are one HDMI Type-D port and one 3.5mm microphone port on the body design. A USB Type-C port supports in-camera charging and continuous power via an optional power bank for extended shooting times, time-lapse recording and so on. Furthermore, by plugging the camera into a computer via USB-c, both video and audio signals can be send to the computer, enabling the fp L to function as a webcam.

Shots can be composed and reviewed on its integrated 3.15" 2.1m-dot LCD touchscreen and saved internally to a UHS-II SDXC card slot. The light weight of the fp is maintained by die-cast aluminium cover on the front and the back that also ensures robustness and heat dissipation. A combination of a large-sized heat sink between the LCD and camera body and a heat dissipation coating to the outer suface helps the fp L to operate for longer hours or in higher temperatures without overheating The fp L is also dust- and splash-proof for operation in a wide variety of environments.

This camera comes supplied with a BP-51 Lithium-ion Battery Pack, a Sigma Strap, two Sigma Strap Holder, one Hot Shoe unit, one Body Cap, one USB AC Adapter, and one USB Cable.
