50-500mm f4.5-6.3 APO EX DG HSM OS for Nikon
Super-telephoto zoom lens
Sigma's upgraded 50-500 f/4.5-6.3 superzoom now comes with the added benefit of optical stabilisation - a feature very welcome in a long lens such as this. While not the best device to use hand-held because of its sheer size and weight, it is now much easier to get a clear shot if you should choose to. It provides the equivalent of shooting at shutter speeds 3-4 stops faster.
The Optical Stabilisation (OS) system uses two sets of sensors to detect and counter vertical and horizontal movement. It works even for shots involving quick movement - like tracking shots in sports - by applying sensors on only one axis of movement.
Colour abberations are kept in check by the four Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass elements, Super Multi-layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting, while the HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor), if supported, ensures quiet and high speed AF as well as full-time manual focus capability.
