18-400mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD for Canon EF
APSC-Format Wide-angle to Super-telephoto Zoom Lens
A versatile wide-angle to super-telephoto zoom lens, the 18-400mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD from Tamron is a great choice of all-in-one lens for Canon EF-mount. Designed for use with APSC-format Canon DSLRs, the lens offers a 28.8-640mm equivalent focal length range to capture everything from the widest landscapes to distant wildlife. Featuring a three-step extension design, it is able to maintain a lightweight and compact physical design.
The optical design uses two moulded glass aspherical elements, three low dispersion elements, and one hybrid aspherical element, to reduce chromatic aberrations and distortion for consistently sharp, clear images, and a rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to an attractive out-of-focus 'bokeh' quality. The lens also features an HLD autofocus motor for quick, quiet and accurate focusing performance that benefits both stills and video applications. This is combined with Vibration Compensation that works to correct up to 2.5 stops of camera shake for sharper imagery when shooting handheld.
Both the zoom and focus rings are textured for improved grip and a Zoom Lock mechanism prevents the zoom from accidentally extending when not in use. The lens is also compatible with the optional TAP-in Console for fine-tuning select focusing adjustments and for updating lens firmware. It is finished with a moisture-resistant construction for peace of mind when working in changeable conditions.
