Telephoto Macro Lens for DX-format DSLRs
Designed for use with DX-format DSLRs, the AF-S DX Micro NIKKOR 85mm f/3.5G ED VR from Nikon is a medium telephoto macro lens with a 35mm equivalent focal length of 127.5mm, capable of extreme close-up and general telephoto photography, including portraiture. The lens will autofocus from infinity to 28.6 cm, to produce life-size (1:1) macro images.
The optical design uses one Extra-low Dispersion element to control chromatic aberrations, and Nikon's Super Integrated lens coating to reduce lens flare and ghosting. A rounded 9-blade diaphragm produces smooth out-of-focus areas. This is complimented by Nikon's VR II (Vibration Reduction) image stabilisation to compensate for camera shake, making it possible to shoot up to 3 shutter speeds slower than would otherwise be possible. This is ideal for macro close-up work, and beneficial when working in low light conditions.
Nikon's Silent Wave Motor (SWM) ensures quick, accurate and near silent autofocus. This is benefitted by an Internal Focus (IF system) for even faster focusing speed without changing the length of the lens. An M/A focusing mode also allows for fast switching between auto and manual focus, and manual focus override.
