Its 42mm objective lenses improve light-gathering ability over smaller objectives while helping to maintain a compact form factor. The incorporation of extra-low dispersion (ED) glass lens elements provides bright and clear images with accurate colour rendition and improved contrast and no fringing. In addition, its BAK4 roof prisms, which deliver a round exit pupil and crisp, clear images, are applied with full multi-, phase-correcting, dieletric multilayer, and Zero coatings to eliminate internal interference, light loss, and diffraction to improve clarity, resolution, and contrast. A wide 55.3° apparent angle of view means a spacious field of view to ease finding and tracking subjects.
On the other hand, a short 1.5 close-focus distance allows detailed observations of smaller subjects like hummingbirds, butterflies, and other insecst at feeders and flowers. To enable operation in varying and inclement weather conditions, the binoculars optical tubes are nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed for waterproofing and fogproofing. Oil- and water-resistant coatings on exterior lens cause rain and dew to bead off while at the same time enable oil, sap, and other dirt and debris to be easily removed without smudges or streaks. Built-in dioptric correction caters to individual eyesight while the convenient centre-focus knob provides for fast and easy focusing.
