The Rolleiflex Hy6, also sold as the Leaf Digital AFi and Sinar Hy6, is a line of medium format single lens reflex cameras designed by Jenoptik for Rollei, introduced in 2006 and in intermittent production starting from 2008. An updated model, the Hy6 mod2 was introduced in 2012.
The Hy6 / AFi is the only hybrid medium format SLR designed for both analog 6x4.5 & 6x6 filmbacks as well as digital image sensor backs.
All Hy6 / AFi camera bodies have been manufactured and tested for at least 500,000 actuations. This should not be confused with actuations for the digital backs, which can be found on the menus of the respective digital backs.
The Hy6 / AFi uses the same physical lens mount first released with the Rolleiflex SLX in 1976 and subsequently updated for the 6000 System cameras. However, the earliest lenses are not compatible with Hy6 bodies, only PQ / PQS lenses will work without restrictions. The AF-D series of lenses (optimised for Digital) released with the Hy6 / AFi drop the aperture selection control on the lens, meaning that AF-D lenses will work only with Hy6 / AFi bodies without restrictions.
The Leaf AFi-II 10R 56 megapixel sensor is 56x36 mm in dimensions. It features an internally rotating sensor, therefore eliminates the need for an adapter plate that increases the risk of misalignment. This allows photographers to keep their camera upright, while quickly shifting orientation, without removing or shutting down the camera back which saves time, preventing sensor exposure to the elements, and avoiding other issues related to digital back removal and rotation, offering them the freedom to focus on photographic creativity.
