Ultra Wide-angle Prime for Sony E-mount Mirrorless Cameras

Part of the Sony's premium G Master series that features lens of high resolution and sharpness, the Sony FE 14mm f/1.8 GM is an ultra-wide 14mm prime lens with an markedly bright design. This fast and versatile lens is well suited for landscape, nature, architectural, and astrophotography with its extremely wide perspective. A complementary f/1.8 constant maximum aperture supports working in dimmer lighting conditions and affords increased control over depth of field.

Optically, a combination of two extra-low dispersion elements, one super ED element, and two XA extreme aspherical elements correct a variety of aberrations to a high degree for increased sharpness and improved clarity and colour accuracy. An application of Nano AR II Coating to individual elements serves to suppress lens flare and ghosting to improve contrast and colour fidelity when working in harsher lighting conditions.

Designed with an XD Linear Motor system that employs two separate stepping motors, this prime lens delivers quiet and quick autofocus performance as well as more responsive control for manual focus. With a minimum focusing distance of 25cm and an ultra-wide field of view, the lens enables deep perspective close-up photography. An AF/MF switch located on the lens barrel permits a convenient tactile control over this setting. Additionally, a focus button on the lens barrel permits tactile, rapid access to select settings while a physical de-clickable aperture ring enables smooth, silent aperture switching that is especially beneficial to video applications. Integrated petal-shaped lens hood aids in blocking stray light to prevent lens flare and provide added physical protection to the front element. The lens's moisture-sealed and dust-sealed construction benefits operation in inclement weather conditions and a fluorine coating on the front and rear lens elements protects the lens against dust, fingerprints, and smearing. A filter holder is incorporated at the rear of the lens, within the lens mounts, and accepts cut gel filter.
