With a versatile zoom range from wide angle to long telephoto, and weighing only 800 grams, the AF-S NIKKOR 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens from Nikon is
an excellent choice for travel photography, or when carrying more than
one lens is not an option. Designed for use with full-frame DSLR
cameras, this lens is also compatible with DX-format DSLRs where it will
provide a 35mm equivalent focal length of 42-450mm.
VR II image stabilisation compensates for camera shake by providing
up to 3.5 shutter speeds stops of compensation. A Silent Wave Motor
autofocus system provides smooth and quiet AF action, and for precise
focusing an M/A focus mode enables quick switching between manual and
autofocus modes. This is complimented by an Internal Focus (IF) design
that keeps the front element from rotating during focusing.
The optical construction includes two extra-low dispersion elements
and three aspherical elements to reduce aberrations for sharp,
true-colour images. The lens elements have also been treated with
Nikon's Super Integrated Coating for improved light transmission. A
rounded 9-blade aperture helps to create pleasing background
highlights.
