The Canon EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM lens is a wide-angle zoom lens that is designed specifically for use with Canon EOS APS-C DSLRs, where it provides a 35mm equivalent focal length of 16-28.8mm. The optical design features one aspherical element, one UD (Ultra-low dispersion) element, and one large-diameter element to reduce chromatic aberrations, producing images with impressive sharpness and clarity. Lens coatings have also been applied to lens elements to reduce lens flare and ghosting, and a seven-blade circular diaphragm helps to produce pleasing out of focus bokeh areas. Canons STM stepping AF motor ensures smooth, near-silent focusing, which is further benefitted by a rear-focusing design, high-speed CPU, and intelligent AF algorithms. Full-time manual focus override is also possible, for fine-tuned focusing. Canons Optical Image Stabiliser rounds off this impressive list of features by helping to minimise the appearance of camera shake by up to an effective four shutter speed steps.
