This information page answers some frequently asked questions about our Rentals. Please contact us for our full Terms and Conditions.

How do I make a booking for rental equipment?

Easy! Simply contact us. Give us a call on 09 529 5055, or get in touch by email to sales@progear.co.nz

We will need to know the dates that you’d like to hire the equipment for, and what items you would like to reserve. We will then confirm availability and provide a quote.

I don’t live in Auckland. Can I still rent equipment?

At this time we do not offer rentals outside of the Auckland area. However if you are based elsewhere in New Zealand and are already a registered customer who has shopped with us in the past, we welcome you to email us at sales@progear.co.nz with your requirements. We will do our best to help.

Can you deliver rental equipment within Auckland?

Yes, we are happy to arrange a courier to our registered (existing) clients, however we are unable to deliver to Rural Delivery addresses. Depending on the amount of equipment you hire, charges vary. Courier fees are payable in full before dispatch.

How do I become a registered customer?

You will need to provide proof of identity and register with us in person or in the presence of a Justice of the Peace. If you are unable to provide us with all of the following, a bond will be requested:

  • New Zealand passport or foreign passport with New Zealand Resident or Permanent Resident Visa
  • Credit card in the Hirer’s name
  • Proof of address

Please note that account holders are responsible for all equipment hired, and equipment may not be hired on behalf of anyone else. If you are hiring on behalf of a company you must be an authorised person or director of the company. Credit cards will not be accepted for payment unless payment is completed in store.

Is the equipment insured?

Yes, our equipment is insured for accidental damage and loss. This cover excludes damage caused by misuse or negligence, operation of the equipment in a manner other than for which the equipment was intended, use of the equipment during a period other than specified in the hire agreement, theft, and fraud.

If during your rental a mishap occurs that affects our equipment, the hirer is liable for the repair or replacement the item(s), up to the insurance excess of $750.

At this time we do not offer an option for lowered insurance excess.

Do you charge a bond/ deposit fee?

First time customers who are unable to register in person, or who do not hold a New Zealand passport or residency visa, will be required to pay a bond. The amount will vary depending on the value of the equipment hired. For registered customers no bond is required however all rental invoices must be paid for in full before or upon pick up.

Do you charge a cancellation fee?

Cancellation fees will apply if no notice is given within 24 hours of the first day of rental. Cancellation fees are 1/3 of the 3 day hire rate.

What are your equipment pick up and drop off times?

Equipment may be picked up and returned during our standard operating hours. We do not offer an out of hours service.

Equipment may be collected after 1pm on the first day of the hire period, and must be returned before 11am on the final day of the hire period. If the return date falls on a Sunday or Public Holiday the return date will be the next working day.

Late returns will be charged at our standard rental fee rates (3 day rate for every 1-3 days late).

What happens if at the end of the hire period I want to purchase the equipment from you?

If at the end of the rental period you decide to purchase the same equipment new or second hand from us, we will invoice the final cost less one 3 day rental payment. Purchase and full payment must be made within 7 days of gear return for this credit to apply. Credit does not include any courier or delivery charges.
