The AF-S VR Zoom-NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED Lens from Nikon is a versatile, lightweight telephoto zoom lens for full-frame FX-format DSLRS that offers a 4.3x zoom. It is also compatible with DX-format DSLRs where it will offer a 35mm equivalent focal length range of 105-450mm. This broad zoom range makes it an ideal choice for a variety of applications from wildlife to travel, sports, and general use.

The optical design features two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements to reduce chromatic aberrations and a Super Integrated Lens Coating works to minimise ghosting and flare. This is complimented by a rounded 9-blade diaphragm that produces smooth out of focus 'bokeh' areas for natural-looking backgrounds, and Nikon's second-generation Vibration Reduction (VR II) system. This Vibration Reduction system compensates for up to 2.5 shutter speed stops, making it possible to capture sharper images when shooting hand-held, in low light, or at telephoto zoom lengths.

The lens is finished with a Silent Wave Motor (SWM) for quiet auto focusing with quick and convenient switching between auto focus and manual operation, and the Internal Focusing (IF) design keeps the lens at a fixed lens length. Finally, a non-rotating front element allows the use of circular polarising filters and lens-mounted flash accessories.
