Wide-angle to Short Telephoto Zoom Lens for DX-format

Designed for use with DX format Nikon DSLR cameras, the AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 17-55mm f/2.8G IF-ED from Nikon is a wide-angle to short telephoto zoom lens that offers a 35mm equivalent focal length range of 25.5-82.5mm. This versatile zoom range makes it well-suited to capturing everything from landscape and street to portrait, travel, and everyday photography. A constant maximum aperture of f/2.8 ensures consistent results throughout the zoom range, makes is possible to work in low light conditions and allows shallow depth of field control. 

The optical design uses three Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass elements to control chromatic aberration and three aspherical elements to reduce coma and aspherical aberrations. This is complimented by Nikon's Super Integrated Lens Coating to minimise lens flare and ghosting for improved light transmission. A circular 9-blade diaphragm creates pleasing, natural looking out-of-focus highlights.

An internal focusing design provides smooth and precise focusing and does not extend or rotate the front elements while focusing. A Silent Wave Motor offers fast and near-silent autofocus operation and manual focus override allows for precise manual control even in AF mode, with virtually no time lag.
