The AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR Lens from Nikon is a versatile wide-angle to telephoto zoom lens with a 35mm equivalent focal length range of 27-210mm. Designed for use with APS-C DX format cameras, it will also work with full-frame FX format cameras in crop mode. This makes it an ideal choice for an all-in-one lens, perfect for travel and everyday use.
The optical design features an extra-low dispersion (ED) glass element and an aspherical element to improve edge sharpness and clarity while correcting chromatic and geometric distortions. It also uses Nikon's Super Integrated Lens Coating (SIC) for improved light transmission and reduced ghosting and flare. A rounded 7-blade aperture helps to produce pleasing out-of-focus bokeh areas.
Nikon's Silent Wave Motor (SWM) autofocus mechanism provides fast, accurate and near-silent auto focusing. The internal focus system means only the internal lens elements move during focusing which reduces the weight of the lens, allows for closer focusing distances and makes it easier to use specialty filters. This is complimented by Vibration Reduction (VR) image stabilisation that can provide up to four stops of image stabilisation to benefit handheld video recording as well as fast-action photography. Manual autofocus override is also available and allows instant switching to manual focus for fine-tuned control over focus placement.
