The EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L mkIII USM from Canon is an update to one of their most popular ultra-wide angle zoom lens. Designed for use with full-frame DSLRs, it is also compatible with APS-C format cameras where it will provide a 25.6-56mm equivalent focal length range.

Alongside a fast constant aperture of f/2.8 the revamped optical design features Subwavelength and Air Sphere Coating technologies, two large diameter GMO dual surface aspherical elements and one ground aspherical element for a notable enhancement in corner sharpness and peripheral brightness, with minimal distortion and reduced flare and ghosting. Further, two Ultra-low Dispersion glass elements are included to minimise chromatic aberration and colour blurring around the edges of the subject.

A ring-type Ultrasonic Motor AF system, internal focusing system and high-speed CPU ensure autofocus is fast, accurate and near-silent. Full-time manual focus override is also available for making fine-tuned adjustments when working in the AF mode. It features a rounded 9-blade aperture diaphragm for smooth out of focus 'bokeh' elements when working with shallow depth of field and selective focus techniques.
