Designed for European Video Standards, the black Sony 96GB HDR-PJ790VE HD Handycam with Projector and GPS is a Full HD 1920 x 1080 video camera that shoorts at either 50 or 25 progressive frames per second. UP to 36.5 hours of high definition video (in HD LP mode) can be stored in the internal 96GB flash memory. The camera's 24P mode allows recording at the international Cinema Standard of 24fps. A BIONZ image processor is paired with a back illuminated EXmor R CMOS sensor to improve sensitivity in dimmer conditions. A wide-angle CArl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* 10x zoom lens with a 6 blade iris design, along with a removable lens hood, helps to reduce distortion. In Active Mode, Sony's Balanced Optical SteadyShot image stablisation system improves camera shake reduction and smoother images in movement. Other features including the zebra bar, expanded focus and peaking, benefit exposure and focus control. Choose between using a 3.0" flip out touchscreen LCD or a more energy efficient colour electronic viewfinder.

The GPS function records your location, making it possible to search and play back videos and images via location and displays your location on the map if you like. The CinemaTone gamma presets provide for a more cinematic feel to your video. In various modes of the HDR-PJ790VE, you can simultaneously shoot HD video and take 24.1MP still shots. You can choose from AVCHD or MP4 formats for image quality or smaller file sizes. The built-in top mounted 5.1 channel surround sound microphone, a manually adjustable audio level control and an Advanced Sound Processor provide improved audio recording. A dedicated headphone jack provides consistent audio monitoring while an external mic jack enables the camera to accept audio input from an optional external mic.

This camcorder also features a built-in projector that can project videos to a maximum of 254cm diagonal lenth, no other playback device required. Also a dedicated micro HDMI port allows projection of media from your tablet, phone, laptop or other HDMI enabled device. Short movies with music and transitions can be conveniently and automatically created using preset configurations. Files on the internal flash memory can be easily transferred to an external USB drive through an optional external Sony USB cable. A built-in USB connector is available for plugging into a computer for file transfer or camera charging. Every two minutes of charge time provides one minute of recording time.

The HDR-PJ790VE simplies the shooting process with various automatic features. One such feature - the Tracking Focus - works together with the Face Detention to enable selection of an object to be focused on, whether it be moving or leaves and then returns to frame. Furthermore, in order to improve clarity of voice recording, the Wind Reduction reduces background noise when Face Detection identifies people in a scene. The camcorder also features Sony's Intelligent Auto mode which automatically selects the appropriate settings from a range of available scene modes based on its shot analysis. Shots in complete darkness are made easier with the NightShot mode by using infrared. Last but not least, Sony's Golf Shot setting captures a few seconds of motion as a sequence of high resolution still photos.
