Colour Management Tool

An updated comprehensive tool which includes 4 targets , Camera Calibration Software, and Adobe Lightroom Plug-in, the X-Rite ColorChecker Passport Photo 2 is designed to aid you in achieving desired and consistent colours from capture to print. 

The four targets - Gray Balance Target, White Balance Target, Classic Target and Creative Enhancement Target, are housed in a handy pocket-sized sturdy plastic case that is easy to carry around and protects the targets for extended lifespan. The case is designed like a flip book for quick access to the required target and its ability to self-stand in multiple positions provides the flexibility to position targets where they are needed. A lanyard is available to help keep the targets ready at hand.

The newly added Gray Balance Target consists of the 18% middle gray, which is the industry de facto standard reference for producing accurate image exposures by using it with a reflective light meter or the built-in meter in your camera. Post-production, this target is also useful for removing undesired colour casts.

The spectrally neutral White Balance Target reflects light evenly throughout the visible spectrum, serving as a neutral reference point to compensate accurately for different lighting conditions and eliminate colour cast which saves time during post production.

The Classic Target consists of 24 patches of solid colour tones that represents the colours of common natural objects, such as sky blue, skin tones and green foliage, and reflects light naturally as each colour would in the real world. Photographing this industry-standard 24 colour grid contributes to consistent and desired colour during shooting. The Colour Classic Target works in conjunction with the included colour calibration software and Adobe Lightroom plug in, but is also supported by third party software solutions that include Hasselblad Phocus, Black Magic DaVinci Resolve and 3D LUT Creator.

The last target, the Creative Enhancement Target, includes four rows of colour patches and is designed as room for greater colour creativity and increased workflow control. The two middle rows consists of warming and cooling patches selectable with an eyedropper tool for adding post-production colour effects to images you can repeat. Catering for black and white point adjustments, the bottom row consists of clipping patches separated into light and dark groups with a 1/3 stop difference from one patch to another and the last patch making a 1/10 stop difference, resulting in a total of 5-stop dynamic range. A final top row provides eight patches of hue, saturation, and lightness spectrum for assessing and editing unwanted colour changes to further contribute to colour accuracy.

The updated X-Rite ColorChecker Passport Photo 2 comes with an updated Camera Calibration Software version 1.2 that allows users to create both custom DNG and/or ICC profiles when used with the ColorChecker Classic target. An automatic recognition of the target lends to easy and straightforward creation of the profiles for different lighting conditions to reduce colour difference between images, improve adaptibility to mixed lighting conditions and match colour balance from one scene to another. For added flexibility, the software is capable of creating a dual-illuminant profile by combining images shot under two different lighting conditions into one single profile which can then be applied to an even wider variety of lighting conditions without you having to switch profiles. An Adobe Photoshop Lightroom plug-in is also included for direct creation of custom camera profiles in Lightroom Classic and Lightroom Classic CC.
