The AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR Lens from Nikon is a multi-purpose standard zoom lens for both Nikon FX (full-frame) and DX (cropped sensor) format Nikon DSLR cameras, where it will provide a 35mm equivalent focal length of 36-105mm. With a fast maximum aperture of f/2.8 it provides excellent low light performance and control over depth of field, where the rounded 9-blade diaphragm creates pleasing out-of-focus areas.
It features a unique aspherical extra-low dispersion element, three aspherical, two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) elements and one high refractive index element to reduce chromatic aberrations and enhance sharpness and contrast across the aperture range. Nano Crystal and Super Integrated lens coatings further enhance light transmission, reducing flare and ghosting. Fluorine coatings on the front and rear elements protect against dust, moisture and smudges.
With a Silent Wave Motor (SWM) autofocus system, autofocus is fast and silent, and direct manual focus override is also available for precise focus control. VR (Vibration Reduction) image stabilization is included to compensate for the effects of camera shake by up to four shutter speed stops, making it easier to work hand-held in low light. And an electromagnetic aperture mechanism is also integrated into the lens to provide greater exposure control stability.
