The silver Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH from Leica is a versatile normal-length prime lens that offers a bright maximum aperture and impressive optical design. The manual focus design provides a minimum focusing distance of 70cm with a maximum magnification ratio of 1:11.3.
The optical design is comprised of eight elements in five groups and includes one aspherical element, a rear floating element, anomalous partial dispersion, and high refractive index glasses to reduce chromatic aberrations and distortions throughout the focusing and aperture ranges for a high degree of overall sharpness and clarity. A fast f/1.4 maximum aperture makes this lens well-suited to working in difficult lighting conditions and with shallow depth of field techniques. The lens features a built-in extendable lens hood and is threaded to accept 46mm screw-in filters.
