The classic red Leica dot is uniquely positioned on the camera's front panel and its viewfinder frames are also displayed in white. The striking appearance of this white edition serves to accentuate the sleek and minimalisitc digital rangefinder camera that features enhanced still imaging capabilities as well as the quietest shutter of any film or digital M-series camera. The pairing of a redeveloped 24MP full-frame CMOS sensor and Maestro II image processor enables the M10-P to capture high-resolution imagery with an extended dynamic range to a high sensitivity of ISO 50000, and a continuous shooting rate of 5 fps.
Sharing the same slim body profile as its sibling model, the M10, the M10-P features a larger 0.73x-magnification optical viewfinder which allows greater ease and accuracy in composition and focusing. For achieving those perfectly level horizons, a level gauge is built in to aid. A dedicated ISO dial is incorporated for fast adjustment whether the camera is turned on or off and the rear 3.0" 1.04m-dot touchscreen LCD features a Gorilla Glass cover to guard against scratching and light impacts. Built for long lasting use, the top and bottom plates of this sturdy camera are constructed from brass, while the chassis is built from magnesium alloy. In addition, an integrated Wi-Fi module in the M10-P enables wireless sharing and remote camera control from a linked mobile device.
The accompanying silver-chrome edition Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH lens from Leica combines with the M10-P to deliver a versatility and high-performance for a variety of photographic applications. This lens features a unique silver-chrome finish with white-in-laid engravings, along with a classic exterior design that recalls the first production run of this lens from 1959. A white lens quiver and a matching white carrier strap completes the ensemble. Other distinct design elements include a scalloped focusing ring, focusing distance scale in feet, and a finely-knurled aperture ring. The manual focus design provides a minimum focusing distance of 70cm with a maximum magnification ratio of 1:11.3.
This is combined with a contemporary optical design that uses one aspherical element and one floating element, as well as anomalous partial dispersion and high refractive index glasses to reduce chromatic aberrations and distortions throughout the focusing and aperture ranges for a high degree of overall sharpness and clarity. A fast f/1.4 maximum aperture makes this lens well-suited to working in difficult lighting conditions and with shallow depth of field techniques.
