A compact medium telephoto lens, the AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.8G from Nikon is a fast, compact FX-format prime. Optimised for use with FX-format Nikon DSLR cameras, it is also compatible with Nikon DX-format cameras where it provides a 35mm equivalent focal length of approximately 127mm. Combined with a fast maximum aperture of f/1.8, it is well-suited to working in low-light situations and with shallow depth of field techniques, making it an ideal choice for portraiture, weddings and live music. A rounded 7-blade diaphragm creates beautiful out of focus 'bokeh' areas.
Silent Wave Motor technology (AFS) and Internal Focus provide fast and quiet autofocus that won't alter the length of the lens, preserving working distance throughout the focus range. This is benefitted by a M/A mode switch that allows you to easily override the AF system for fine tuned manual focusing as required. The lens also features Nikon's Super Integrated Coating (SIC), a multi-layer lens coating that improves light transmission, provides better colour consistency, and minimises ghosting and flare.
