The Leica Summicron-M 28mm f/2 ASPH. is a compact manual focus wide-angle prime lens with a fast f/2 maximum aperture that makes it well-suited to working in low light conditions and with shallow depth of field techniques. It has been updated with "6-bit" coding, which allows the digital M camera to read this information optically and to identify which lens is being used. The camera can then (optionally) apply a "final stage" software based vignetting correction (for RAW images the lens used is simply recorded, no change is made).
This lens features outstanding image performance across the entire field, high resolving power and brilliance even at maximum aperture. It uses special types of optical glasses and includes a lens element with an aspherical surface, which helps reduce internal lens reflection.
The Leica Summicron-M 28mm f/2 ASPH. comes with a Front Lens Cap, Rear Lens Cap, Soft Leather Lens Case and Lens Hood.
