A standard-length, manual focus lens, the 50mm f/2.5 Summarit-M from Leica offers proven optical and mechanical excellence. The bright maximum aperture of f/2.5 benefits working in low-light conditions and allows for shallow depth of field and dramatic effects such as prominent foregrounds and strongly receding backgrounds. This is complimented by a rounded 9-blade aperture to create pleasing out of focus 'bokeh' areas, making it a great choice for portraits and weddings.
The lens has been updated with the "6-bit" coding, which enables the digital M camera to read information optically and identify which lens is being used. The camera can then optionally apply a "final stage" software based vignetting correction (for RAW images the lens used is simply recorded, no change is made).
