EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM
Macro lens for Canon APS-C SLRs
The EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM lens from Canon is a telephoto prime and macro lens designed specifically for use with APS-C format Canon SLR cameras. It produces 1:1 magnification for detailed close-up images and a 35mm equivalent focal length of 96mm makes it a flattering choice for portraiture and other medium telephoto applications. A maximum aperture of f/2.8 makes it useful for working in low light conditions and provides shallow depth of field control.
A ring-type ultrasonic (USM) motor ensures fast and silent autofocus, with full-time manual override. This is particularly useful when shooting macro for final critical focus. The field of focus is flat, important in macro work, and the aperture diaphragm is circular for pleasing out of focus 'bokeh' areas.
An internal focusing system prevents the lens from extending while focusing and a three-group floating element lens design produces excellent delineation at all focusing distances from life size macro to infinity. Canon's Super Spectra lens coatings suppress ghosting and flare and an optional lens hood (ET-67B) is also available to further reduce the chances of stay light entering the lens. It is also possible to use the EF-S 60mm f/2.8 USM lens with the optional MR-14EX Macro Ring Lite or MT-24EX Macro Twin Lite.
