Q2 Daniel Craig x Greg Williams (Limited Edition)
Limited Edition Fixed Lens Compact Digital Camera
The Leica Q2 "Daniel Craig x Greig Williams" Digital Camera is a limited edition of the Leica Q2. It is a collaboration between Daniel Craig and Greig Williams, who are both passionate about photography and fans of the Leica brand. This elegant and exclusion edition are defined by gold accents against the stylish black - engravings on the camera and lens are inlaid with gold paint and even the Leica Logo is a matching black and gold for the first time in history. An exclusive carrying strap constructed with Nappa leather that is embossed with the Leica logo is supplied. The same material is used for the camera covering, which is embossed with an elegant diamond pattern. Finally, a hinged-lid presentation box with gold lettering and a black silk lining houses this exquisite camera. The name and sequential serial number of each of the limited 650 units of this Leica Q2 "Daniel Craig x Greig Williams" edition is laser-engraved under the glass cover of the camera display.
With the Leica Q2, it is possible to have your cake and eat it too. The premium compact digital camera combines features well received by Leica Q users as well as advanced and innovative ones, including an updated imaging system and intuitive operation. Q2's redeveloped imaging system boasts a high-resolution 47.3MP full-frame CMOS sensor which is paired with an updated Maestra II image processor. The result is greater flexibility in image creation, smooth colour and tonal rendering, wide 13-stop dynamic range, low noise and a broad sensitivity range of ISO 50-50000. Furthermore, the more powerful processing capabilities enables fast shooting performance of up to 10 fps at full resolution with a mechanical shutter and a very fast 49-area autofocus system. Stills can be stored as 14-bit DNG files and JPEGs. Of note, the higher resolution in Q2 enables greater digital zooming capabilities which are expressed in a series of unique Crop Modes that simulates working with various focal length lenses: a 35mm field of view to create 30MP images, 50mm field of view to create 15MP images, and 75mm field of view to create 7MP images. Improved video recording means that Q2 users have the choice to create DCI 4k24p, UHD 4k30p or high-speed Full HD video at up to 120p.
Retaining a beloved element of its predecessor Leica Q, the Q2 features a fixed Summilux 28mm f/1.7 wide-angle prime lens. This ASPH. fixed lens leverages on three aspherical elements to minimise distortion and spherical aberrations for remarkable resolution and clarity. In dimmer conditions, its fast f/1.7 maximum aperture also performs well and enables greater control over depth of field. The versatile lens even offers the possibility to work with subjects as near as 17cm by using a dedicated macro focusing position. Optical image stabilisation adds to image sharpness and clarity, especially during handheld shooting, by compensating for the effects of camera shake.
While the Q2 maintains the Q-series classic sleek profile, the camera body has been revamped to improve several areas. Its lightweight magnesium alloy body is dust and moisture sealed (IP52-rated) for use in harsh and trying environments. The adoption of the BP-SCL4 battery featured in the flagship SL mirrorless camera for longer battery life translates to an increased 370 shots per charge. The physical battery itself is redesigned to incorporate a rubber gasket, which adds to the overall weather sealing. Also realistic and clear eye-level monitoring can be achieved with the addition of a high-resolution 3.68MP (1280 x 960) OLED electronic viewfinder that virtually has no lag due to high refresh rate. An improved eye sensor offeres more rapid automatic switching between the EVF and the rear 3.0" 1.04m-dot LCD touchscreen that provides for straightforward playback and settings control.
In conjunction with the Leica FOTOS app, built-in Bluetooth LE and Wi-Fi support wireless sharing and controlling the camera remotely from a linked mobile device. The Q2 also features mechanical shutter capable of flash sync speeds up to 1/500 sec and a 49mm filter thread diameter is incorporated on the lens for attaching optional filters. The camera has one SD-type memory card slot and supports the UHS II protocol. Last but not least, the Q2 has also been redeigned to enhance touch interaction experience for users. These include a distinctive thumb grip, a dedicated On/Off button, a three-button rear control set, a programmable button built into the thumb-wheel dial and a push button diopter adjustment.
