It supports a wide range of roll and sheet media and features an ultra-fine MicroPiezo® Thin Film (TFP) Print Head with Variable Sized Droplet Technology™ for output with superior resolution, gradations and colour density. Print at speeds up to 30m2/hr on roll based stock up to 17" wide and sheets up to A2 and above, including board up to 1.5mm thick. The printer conveniently provides different ways to load media, including a front-loading, straight-through path and a second, top-loading, single-sheet feeder optimised for fine art paper. The Stylus Pro 4900 supports edge-to-edge and borderless printing.

It uses Epson UltraChrome® HDR all-pigment aqueous ink with an 11 cartridge configuration for premium colour and B&W output that is consistent, predictable and durable. Improving upon earlier models, the Stylus Pro 4900 incorporates a three-level black ink technology which simultaneously uses black, light black and light light black inks. This produces stunning grey balance and highlight-to shadow grayscale accuracy plus impressive high density levels and virtually no bronzing. Automatic black ink mode switching is also included; load both photo and matte black inks into the printer and the 4900 will automatically switch from one to the other with minimal ink loss.

The cartridges feature a high capacity for extended operation with a reduced cost per print. An optional SpectroProofer is available for precision colour management and ISO standard proofing work. It is compatible with a wide range of design, production, workflow management and RIP software.

All this is included in an easy to use design, with auto tension control, an auto media management system, and heavy duty auto cutter for roll based stock. A colour LCD control panel offers integrated help and flexible high-speed interfacing.
