Portrait-length prime lens for Sony E Mount
The Zeiss Batis 85mm f/1.8 is a portrait-length prime lens designed for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras, however it can also be used on APS-C models where it will provide a 127.5mm equivalent focal length. With a maximum aperture of f/1.8 it is well-suited to working in difficult lighting conditions, and offers greater control over focus. It features an innovative OLED display that highlights the focus distance and depth of field range for quickly recognizing your focusing parameters even in low-light conditions, and linear motors ensure autofocus is smooth, fast, and quiet. Alternatively, a tactile rubberized ring is available for precise manual focus.
The lens uses the Sonnar concept with a floating elements design to maintain consistent sharpness and control both chromatic and spherical aberrations. A Zeiss T* anti-reflective coating has also been applied to individual elements in order to suppress flare and ghosting for improved contrast and true colour.
It also features Optical Image Stabilization to minimize the appearance of camera shake when working with slower shutter speeds. Combined with the camera's own OIS, it provides you the benefits of both systems. In addition, this feature also reduces digital noise, as the OIS values do not have to be increased to compensate for poor light conditions.
All of this is housed inside a dust and moisture-sealed design, allowing you to keep shooting no matter the weather. With a focal length of 85 mm, the lens is the perfect companion for portrait, event, and wedding photography.
