The 35mm f/1.8 OSS from Sony is a compact prime lens for Sony E-mount cameras, with a 35mm equivalent focal length of 52.5mm. Its fast f/1.8 maximum aperture makes it well-suited to working in low light conditions and with shallow depth of field techniques, while a circular aperture produces smooth out of focus 'bokeh'.

It features a quiet linear focus control motor, complimented by an in-lens stepping motor for aperture control. Combined they offer smooth and near silent operation, ideal for shooting video. Direct Manual Focus is also available, allowing for fine-tuned manual focus control, even when working in autofocus mode.

Optically the 35mm f/1.8 OSS is designed to reduce spherical aberration, for sharp images across the aperture range. This is complimented by Sony's built-in Optical Image Stabilisation system which provides approximately 4-stops of shake control, making it easier to work hand-held, even in difficult lighting situations.
