The M.Zuiko Digital ED 45mm f/1.2 PRO is a Micro Four Thirds portrait-length prime lens from Olympus that combines a 90mm-equivalent focal length with an ultra fast f/1.2 maximum aperture. This bright aperture makes the lens well-suited to producing shallow depth of field imagery, as well as working in difficult lighting conditions.
The optical design features 14 elements in 10 groups and incorporates one extra-low dispersion element, one aspherical element and four high refractive index glass elements to control aberrations and distortion for improved sharpness, clarity, and reduced colour fringing. A Z Coating Nano has also been applied to individual elements to reduce flare and ghosting for improved contrast when working in strong lighting conditions. This is complimented by a nine-blade aperture that works to produce attractive out-of-focus areas.
A Movie & Still Compatible (MSC) autofocus system, along with an internal focusing design, ensures autofocus is fast, quiet and accurate, ideal for both stills and video recording, and a manual focus clutch makes it easy to switch to manual focus for more precise control. A printed depth of field scale is also featured on the lens barrel for pre-focusing and hyper focal focusing techniques, and a programmable L-Fn (lens function) button offers easily accessible settings adjustment. The lens is finished with a weather-sealed construction that provides protection against dust, moisture and freezing temperatures for peace of mind when working in difficult weather conditions.
