Ultra Wide-Angle Prime Lens for Full-Frame E-Mount Cameras

The Laowa 15mm f/2 FE Zero-D from Venus Optics is an ultra wide prime lens designed for the full frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras. For added versatility, it can also be used with APS-C models where a 22.5mm equivalent focal length is provided.

This rectilinear lens boasts a sophistical optical design to effectively limit distortions of straight lines to suit architectural and landscape photography. Furthermore, the incorporation of three extra-low dispersion and two aspherical elements has the combined effect of minimising chromatic and spherical aberrations to improve sharpness and clarity of the imagery while reducing colour fringing. In addition, Laowa 15mm f/2 FE Zero-D's bright f/2 maximum aperture not only benefits working in dimmer conditions, it also works with its 15cm minimum focus distance to produce distinct shallow depth of field imagery.

For working in inclement weather, a Frog Eye Coating has been applied to the front element of the lens to repel dust and moisture. Video applications benefit from de-clicking the manual aperture ring for smooth and quiet aperture changes. Also, despite the its wide-angle design, the lens accepts moderately sized 72mm screw-in filters.
