This Laowa 12mm f/2.8 Zero-D from Venus Optics features a Sony E-mount and a rectilinear optical design that limits distorition for clear and accurate portrayals of landscapes and architectural subjects. A bright f/2.8 maximum aperture suits working in dimmer condition. Optically, the lens is designed with two aspherical elements and three extra-low dispersion elements to control a range of spherical and chromatic aberrations, thus improving sharpness and increasing clarity and colour neutrality. Application of a Frog Eye Coating on the front element helps to repel both dust and moisture to benefit working in inclement conditions.

This wide-angle lens is characterised by a manual focus design which employs a floating optical system to maintain accurate rendering throughout its focus range from 18cm to infinity. In addition, a petal-shaped lens hood is built-in to shield the lens from stray light to reduce ghosting and flare when working in harsh lighting as well as to provide added protection for the front element from accidental impacts.
