Standard-length Lens for Leica S-System
The Leica Summarit-S 70mm f/2.5 ASPH CS is a high performance, standard focal length lens designed for use with the Leica S Digital Camera System. With a large f/2.5 maximum aperture, the lens provides outstanding low light performance and depth-of-field control. A circular shaped aperture produces beautiful out of focus areas for dramatic portraits with soft bokeh.
Built with professional applications in mind, the lens captures images with outstanding colour and contrast at all apertures and distances as close as 50 cm. Highly refractive glass with anomalous partial dispersion provides image sharpness from edge to edge and a built-in front filter with environmental sealing protects the optic under harsh shooting conditions.
The lens uses an integrated Central (leaf) Shutter design that enables flash units to be used at a shutter speed of 1/500 section, creating more options for eliminating unwanted ambient light and capturing fast action. The shutter also has an electronically-controlled drive guaranteeing reliable, fast exposure times and low energy consumption.
Leica S Series Lenses are manufactured with autofocus built into the lens. An integrated screw-type motor provides dependable, fast autofocusing without noise. Autofocus can be overriden at any time by adjusting the wide focus ring.
