The Sekonic L-398X-U Flashmate Light Meter is an impressively portable and versatile meter that is designed to cater for both photo and video applications. Featuring a sliding lumisphere with a 40° reception angle, the L-308X is capable of measuring incident and reflected light, and offers a wide metering range of 0 to 19.9 EV at ISO 100. A similarly broad range of f/1 to f/90.9 EV at ISO 100 is afforded when measuring flash, whether via PC sync terminal connection or cordlessly. In addition, the meter can be used with exposure times ranging from a low of 1/8000 second up to 60 seconds. An ISO 850 is available for compatibility with the native ISO of some video cameras.

The L-308X offers three specialised metering modes to suit your needs: A Photo Mode suitable for still shooting with aperture and shutter priority, a Cine Mode designed for selecting frame rates between 8-128 fps with one-tenth of a stop accuracy, and an HD Cine Mode ideal for video-shooting with a DSLR or mirrorless camera. A backlit LCD display, which automatically lights up when working at 5 EV or darker, is available for viewing settings or settings customisation regardless of the lighting conditions.

This compact meter weighs no more than a 100g and does all the above on one AA battery.
