Super-Telephoto Zoom Lens for Sony E cameras

The Tamron 150-500mm f/5-6.7 Di III VXD lens is designed to provide full-frame Sony E-mount cameras with a super-telephoto zoom range. The compact and versatile lens is well-suited in a wide variety of photography situations, ranging from shooting sports, landscapes to wildlife.

Optically, a sophisticated 25-elements-in16-groups design employs a combination of LD (low dispersion) elements, XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) and GM (Glass-Molded Aspherical) elements to greatly improve clarity and colour accuracy and achieve high sharpness and accurate rendering. An application of BBAR-G2 (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection Generation 2) Coating to individual elements serves to suppress internal reflections, flare, and ghosting to improve contrast and colour fidelity when working in harsher lighting conditions.

Designed with Tamron's high-speed and high-precision linear motor AF drive focus mechanism, VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive), this zoom lens delivers impressively quiet, fast, and precise autofocus performance, thus benefitting shooting of moving subjects as well as video applications. It is also compatible with Sony Hybrid AF and Eye AF in enabled cameras. Furthermore, a minimum focusing distance of 60cm (at the 150mm end), increases the lens's overall usability with close-up imaging.

The lens features a VC image stabilisation which facilitates handheld shooting at the 500mm ultra-telephoto position, as well as a Arca-type compatible rotating tripod mount, which has integrated strap attachment loops for support and safety when shooting in the field. The lens's moisture-resistant construction supports use in inclement conditions and a fluorine coating on the front lens element protects the lens against dust, fingerprints, and smearing. A Flex Zoom Lock switch is incorporated on the lens' body to hold zoom, position. Front and rear lens caps, a round lens hood with flexible, shock-absorbing front rim for preventing cracks and damage, and an Arca-type tripod foot are supplied with this lens.
