Wide-angle Zoom Lens
The FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM Lens from Sony is a fast and versatile wide-angle zoom lens designed for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras. It is also compatible with APS-C models where it will provide a 35mm equivalent focal length range of 24-52.5mm. This is combined with a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture to benefit working in low-light conditions and provide consistent performance throughout the zoom range.
As part of Sony's G Master series, this lens is designed to achieve outstanding resolution and sharpness. The optical design uses two extra-low dispersion, two XA (extreme aspherical) and three aspherical elements to control both spherical and chromatic aberrations. A Nano AR Coating has also been applied to individual elements to reduce surface reflections, flare, and ghosting. An 11-blade circular diaphragm produces smooth out-of-focus 'bokeh' areas.
Two Direct Drive SSM AF groups ensure quick and quiet autofocus control to benefit both stills and video shooting, and contribute to more natural, intuitive manual focus operation. The lens is finished with a dust- and moisture-sealed design, a dedicated focus hold button and AF/MF switch. The front element also has a fluorine coating that helps to prevent fingerprints and dust from adhering to the lens surface.
