Wide-Angle Zoom Lens for Leica L-mount Cameras

The 14-24mm f/2.8 DG DN Art lens from Sigma offers a refined addition to their range of ultra-wide lenses, producing images with excellent image quality. It is available here for use with full-frame Leica L-mount mirrorless cameras; however it can also be used with APS-C models where it will provide a 21-36mm equivalent focal length.

As part of Sigma's Art series, the lens incorporates one F Low Dispersion (FLD) element, five Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass elements, and three aspherical elements, including a large-diameter aspherical lens, to ensure impressuive image quality. This optical design markedly reduce chromatic and spherical aberrations and other distortions for improved clarity and colour accuracy throughout the zoom range, as well as increased sharpness and rendering accuracy. The combined application of a Super Multi-Layer coating and a Nano Porous Coating on the lens elements provides more superior suppression of flare and ghosting than conventional anti-reflective coatings, helping the lens to produce contrast-rich and colour neutral imagery even in backlit conditions. The bright constant f/2.8 maximum aperture suits working in a variety of lighting conditions and provides for executing shallow depth of field techiques.

A stepping AF motor benefits both still and video applications with its speedy, silent and accurate focusing perfomance, and full-time manual focus override is available at any time. A built-in Autofocus-Lock (AFL) button which can be assigned additional functions widens the range of available operations on the lens, while a rounded eleven-blade diaphragm produces pleasing out of focus 'bokeh' areas. The weather resistant lens also features water- and oil-repellent coating on its front lens element for working in harsh environmental conditions and its the brass bayonet mount affords greater mounting accuracy and rigidity. For secure attaching of gel filters along the lens mount, a fall-prevention lock is integrated into the rear filter holder. Additionally, a lens hood is built in to prevent stray light from causing flare and to provide some protection for the front element.
