The Sony 35mm f/1.8 FE lens is a versatile wide angle prime lens designed for full-frame E-mount cameras but has the flexbility of pairing with APS-C format cameras to provide an equivalent focal length of 52.5mm. This lens features a bright f/1.8 maximum aperture which benefits working in dimmer condition and creating images with shallow depth of field. Incorporation of an aspheric element into the optical design reduces aberrations and field curvature while contrast and edge to edge sharpness are maintained. The compact 35mm f/1.8 FE lens utilises a linear autofocus motor and internal focus design to achieve fast, responsive autofocus performance and allow quiet, precise focusing beneficial during video recording.

A customisable focus hold button in the physical design enables focus locking when recomposing. Furthermore, it can be configured to activate a variety of other functions, such as Eye AF, AF On, Aperture Preview, Shot Result Preview, and Bright Monitoring. For quick switching between autofocus and manual focus that bypasses the need to access menus, an AF/MF switch is conveniently located on the lens barrel. The rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasant and smooth bokeh when employing selective focus methods. Dust- and moisture-resistant design means you can capture images in inclement weather while the rubberised control rings eases handling in colder climate.
