An ideal length for portraiture, the Samyang Sony E-mount AF 85mm f/1.4 is a short-telephoto lens offering a fast maximum aperture to isolate your subject through selective focus and benefit working in dim lighting conditions. It is designed for use with full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras, however it can also be used with APS-C Sony cameras where it will offer a 127.5mm equivalent focal length.

Optically the lens uses four high refractive index elements to reduce spherical aberrations and distortion, and one extra-low dispersion element to combat colour fringing and chromatic aberrations. An Ultra Multi-Coating has also been applied to individual elements to fight flare and ghosting for improved contrast, and a rounded nine-blade diaphragm works to produce smooth out of focus areas.

An Ultrasonic Dual Linear motor and an internal focusing design ensure quick and quiet autofocus performance. The internal focusing design maintains the overall lens length and prevents the front of the lens from rotating during use. An AF/MF switch is also featured for easy switching between focusing modes. The lens is weather-sealed for peace of mind when working in difficult weather conditions, and a lens hood is included to help block stray light which can otherwise cause flare and ghosting.
