The optical design features a hybrid aspherical element to reduce distortion and spherical aberrations, resulting in higher degree of sharpness and improved clarity throughout the aperture range. An application of Ultra Multi-Coating on individual elements reduces ghosting and flare for greater contrast and colour fidelity when working in harsher lighting condition. The manual focus design allows close up photography, with a minimum focussing distance of 1.1m from subjects, while the rounded eight-blade diaphragm contributes to provide a pleasing bokeh effect.
