Ultra Wide-Angle Zoom Lens for Nikon F-mount Cameras

The Tamron SP 15-30mm f/2.8 Di VC USD G2 is an ultra wide-angle zoom lens which offers a versatile range of wide-angle focal lengths, sophisticated optics, and image stabilisation. The lens here is designed for full-frame Nikon F-mount cameras; however, it can also work with DX models where it provides an equivalent focal length range of 22.5 - 45mm. Featuring a bright constant f/2.8 maximum aperture, the lens suits working in a variety of lighting conditions, including dimmer ones.

The optical design incorporates a combination of two glass-moulded aspherical elements and one eXpanded Glass Moulded (XGM) Aspherical element to reduce spherical aberrations and distortion throughout the zoom range for impressive sharpness and improved rendering accuracy. Three low dispersion (LD) elements are used to markedly reduce chromatic aberrations and colour fringing for greater clarity and colour fidelity. Additionally, three types of coatings - AX, eBAND, and BBAR - are applied to the elements to benefit working in harsher lighting by suppressing ghosting and lens flare.

Thanks to an Ultra Silent Drive (USD), the lens features fast, quiet, and accurate autofocusing performance that will suit shooting moving sujects, as well as affords full-time manual control. Additionally, the USD boasts a 28cm minimum focus distance that enables you to focus upclose to your subject. For effective handheld shooting, in difficult lighting especially, a VC image stabilisation is incorporated to reduce the appearance of camera shake by up to 4.5 stops. Dual dedicated Micro-Processing Units (MPUs), one each for autofocus and VC stabilisation, are utilised to ensure fast and reliable focusing and stabilisation performance.

The lens features a rounded nine-blade diaphragm which contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality in out-of-focus areas. With a moisture-resistant construction and an application of flourine coating on the front element of the lens for protection against dust, dirt, and smearing, you can use the lens with certain ease in inclement conditions. An integrated rear filter allows incorporation of cut gel-type filters when shooting.

This Tamron zoom lens is compatible with separately available TAP-in Console for updating firmware and fine-tuning select focusing adjustments.
