The Zeiss Distagon T* 35mm f/1.4 ZF.2 for Nikon is an optically superb and very fast wide-angle lens designed for FX-format Nikon F mount DSLRs, and can also be used with DX models. The fast f/1.4 maximum aperture benefits working in varying lighting conditions and also offers increased control over depth of field. A near-circular aperture produces pleasing bokeh.

Like all Zeiss lenses it offers superb colour and edge to edge sharpness, and a Zeiss T* anti-reflective coating has also been applied to significantly reduce ghosting and lens flare.

It is a manual focus lens, complemented by a large rotation angle, and robust all-metal construction.

The new ZF.2 lenses are an enhanced version of ZF lenses. They feature an electronic interface (CPU) that enables support of all important camera operating modes such as shutter priority, aperture priority and programmed auto exposure or manual exposure settings. Photographers no longer have to set the parameters in the camera menu as the lens now transmits standard data such as focal length, speed and the aperture setting to the camera. This data can then be viewed in the EXIF data of each picture.
