The NiSi 70mm Starter Kit is the perfect filter kit solution for compact and mirrorless cameras. The kit includes the NiSi 70mm System Aluminium Filter Holder Kit M1 that contains one round CPL filter and a 58mm adapter ring for use with 58mm filter thread lenses. It also comes with a NiSi 70x80mm Nano IR Neutral Density ND64 (1.8) 6 Stop Filter, NiSi 70x100mm Nano IR Soft Graduated Neutral Density GND8 (0.9) 3 Stop Filter, and 70mm System Filter Hard Case. Other adapter rings can be purchased separately in sizes from 37mm to 55mm.
Through the use of separately available adapters, the 70mm filter holder can be used with lenses that have a standard filter thread from 37mm to 58mm. Made from aviation-grade aluminium with single element processing by CNC machine, the matte black frosted finish on the surface of the holder minimises reflection. It supports up to two 70mm filters plus a CPL filter in any combination.
CPL filters are primarily designed to eliminate polarised light, producing increased colour saturation. This is particularly noticeable when photographing outdoor scenes, where a CPL filter will work to combat atmospheric fog to deepen the blue of the sky, highlight white clouds, and eliminate reflected light bringing detail back in to reflective surfaces such as water or glass. Made from high quality optical glass with nano coating, it preserves every bit of detail and will not affect the colour of your image.
The 70x80mm ND64 (1.8) Nano IR Neutral Density Filter and 70x100mm GND8 (0.9) Nano IR Soft Graduated Neutral Density Filter from NiSi are specially designed for landscape photographers. Normally, when using a neutral density filter the camera is vulnerable to infrared light which can cause an unwanted red colour cast in images when shooting at small apertures. To prevent this, NiSi has added the infrared protection coating layer to this filter which helps to eliminate the infrared light through the lens to bring back the natural colour.
The 70x80mm ND64 (1.8) Nano IR Neutral Density Filter features a 1.8 density, to provide a 6 stop reduction in light from entering the lens. This is useful for creating long exposures, with an even light reduction across the frame. The 70x100mm GND8 (0.9) Nano IR Soft Graduated Neutral Density Filter features a 0.9 density, for a 3 stop reduction in light from entering the lens. The soft graduated filter is designed with a soft transition from being transparent on one end to being light-stopping on the other, making it a good choice for preventing over exposure of skies.
Made from high quality optical glass, NiSi filters preserve every bit of detail and will not affect the colour of your image. They also features NiSi’s unique nano coating technology which reduces reflection on the surface of the filter to help with ghosting and flare. In addition, a protective layer makes it easy to wipe off water, dust, and oil from the filter without worrying about scratching your glass.
Finally, the included NiSi Hard Case for 70mm Filter System is a sturdy and portable high quality PU leather case that is designed to store and protect your 70mm NiSi filter system. It features space for your 70mm M1 Holder, CPL, plus four 70x100mm or 70x80mm filters. Its soft fiber cotton interior helps to prevent accidental scratching of your filters.
