The SW150 Reverse ND 1.2 filter from LEE filters is a 150mm 4 stop reverse gradient neutral density filter with a gradient that fades in two directions. Specifically designed to offer full control over images shot at the beginning and end of the day, the Reverse ND has a stronger density in the centre of the filter, with a carefully designed transition zone that gives a natural balanced exposure to the sky. The top of the filter smoothly increases in intensity to provide 4 stops in the middle of the filter. From the middle down the filter fades to clear.
This is ideal for photographing sunsets or sunrises, where you may find yourself shooting towards the sun as it sits near the horizon. A standard gradient filter would darken the sky at the top of the frame, while possibly not darkening the sun enough. The Reverse ND allows the exposure to be controlled precisely at the horizon line, where a sunrise or sunset is at its brightest, making it ideal for seascapes in particular. Simply move the filter up and down in the holder to position the darkest part of the filter over the brightest part of your image, bringing detail back in to this portion of your frame.
As with all of LEE Filters' resin graduated filters, the Reverse ND is manufactured by hand by the skilled technicians at the company's Andover factory. This enables an impressive level of precision and quality control. The Reverse ND has been designed to be at its most effective when used on lenses of 24mm or wider on a full frame DSLR (or equivalent).
This filter is designed for use with the separately available LEE Filters SW150 Filter Holder. It is possible to stack any number of ND's together with other filters, to customize your LEE Filters setup for any lighting situation.
