Leica
IIIa (model G) + 50mm f/2 Summar lens
Screw-mount rangefinder camera kit
The IIIa Model G is a small, light and precise camera manufactured by Leica between 1935 and 1950. Originally sold as the 'Leica Autofocal Camera Model G', it was the first Leica to feature a top speed of 1/1000th of a second. 'Autofocal' referred to its focusing system; align the superimposed rangefinder images to focus, without the need to look at distance scales. It is made with aluminium with chrome plated top plate, base plate and knobs. It uses a 3/8" tripod thread, and will require a bushing to fit 1/4"-20 tripod heads.
The IIIa Model G is compatible with all Leica screw-mount lenses. It comes with the 5 cm (50mm) f/2 Summar lens, a Leica screw-thread collapsible lens made from chrome plated brass. The viewfinder on the IIIa Model G covers 50mm lenses only, so if you are using a lens other than 50mm, you will need to add an external finder to your accessory shoe.
