The Canon 700D is an APS-C format digital SLR camera with an 18MP CMOS sensor and DIGIC 5 image processor. Featuring 14-bit Analog/Digital conversion, an ISO range from 100-12800 (expandable to 25600), and Multi Shot Noise Reduction, it is capable of capturing sharp images with accurate colour, and low-noise in both bright and low-light shooting situations. A 9-point all cross-type autofocus system ensures fast focusing when shooting with the viewfinder and Hybrid CMOS AF increases autofocus speeds when shooting in Live View. Continuous shooting is also possible at up to 5 fps.

Additionally the 700D is equipped with the ability to capture Full HD 1080p at 30 fps, and 24 fps is supported with Movie Servo for continuous autofocus during shooting. Manual exposure is possible in video mode and 60 fps can be captured when shooting 720p HD. Stills can also be recorded during video shooting simply by pressing the camera's shutter button. Audio is captured via a built-in stereo microphone with manual audio level adjustment.

Physically, the camera features a 3.0" Clear View II Vari-angle Touchscreen LCD with 1,040k-dot resolution. Its tilt and swivel capability makes it easy to compose your shots at odd angles and a smudge-resistant coating helps to keep the monitor clear. Intuitive touchscreen operation includes Touch Autofocus. The camera accepts SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards and is compatible with the full line of Canon EF and EF-S lenses.

The 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens from Canon is a versatile standard zoom lens designed for use on Canon APS-C size sensors. The 18-55mm focal length is equivalent to 28.8-88mm in 35mm terms.

The STM stepping motor supports Canon's EOS Movie Servo AF feature for smooth and near-silent continuous autofocusing when recording video. An Optical Image Stabilizer minimizes the appearance of camera shake, and optimized lens coatings ensure superb colour reproductions whilst limiting ghosting and flare. A seven-blade aperture design produces pleasing background blur.
