The D5000 is a DX-format Nikon F-mount camera featuring a 12.3-megapixel CMOS image sensor and Nikon's EXPEED image processing system to help you capture clear, sharp still images, and record 720p HD movie clips. The camera offers low noise with ISO sensitivity from 200 to 3200, continuous shooting at up to 4 frames per second, and an 11 point autofocus system with 3D focus tracking provides fast and accurate autofocus. One-button live view access offers 4 autofocus modes, including Face-priority AF.

You can also expect accurate exposures thanks to Nikon’s renowned 420-pixel RGB 3D Color Matrix Metering II, teamed with the exclusive Scene Recognition System. There are 19 auto-exposure scene modes that include Sunsets, Candlelight, Silhouette, Portrait, Landscape, and Beach/Snow, to name a few.

A 2.7 inch vari-angle colour LCD monitor makes it easy to work from a variety of angles, and when you're done shooting the screen flips inward for safe keeping. You'll also be able to creatively alter your images in camera, thanks to creative in-camera image editing that features Soft Filter, Straighten, Colour Outline Effect, Perspective Control, Red-eye Correction, Image Overlay, Monochrome and more.
