The EOS 80D from Canon is a fast, versatile digital camera with a user-friendly intuitive design. A 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor and DIGIC 6 image processor allow the 80D to capture high-resolution images at up to 7 fps and Full HD 1080p video at 60 fps in the MP4 format. A 45-point all cross-type AF system ensures fast and accurate focusing and tracking of moving subjects, even when working in low-light. This is further benefited by an expanded sensitivity of up to ISO 25600, for a reduction in noise when working in difficult lighting conditions.
A Dual Pixel CMOS AF system ensures live view shooting and movie recording will feature a smooth and natural focusing quality when changing focus from different subjects or distances within the scene. It is also possible to specify tracking sensitivity, AF speed and Face Tracking priority. An HDR Movie mode is also available to achieve greater highlight and shadow detail when working with bright high-contrast scenes. This mode captures two HD frames at different exposures, one normal and one underexposed, in short succession at up to 60 fps and then composites them during playback at 30 fps to create a movie with greater dynamic range.
Use the large swiveling vari-angle 3.0" 1.04m-dot touchscreen LCD to focus with a single touch of the screen, and simply adjust the position of the LCD to easily work from high or low angles. Headphone and microphone jacks are also included for advanced control over audio recording.
Built-in Wi-Fi with NFC is included, allowing you to use the Canon Camera Connect app to pair mobile devices with the camera to wirelessly transfer files for sharing your photos and movies online. Remote shooting from a linked mobile device is also available, allowing you to wirelessly configure exposure settings or release the shutter.
With a zoom range from wide to medium telephoto, the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens from Canon is an excellent choice for travel, or when low weight is a priority. Designed for APS-C format DSLRs, it features a 35mm equivalent focal length of 28.8-216mm to cover wide-angle to telephoto perspectives.
With NANO USM technology, the lens features both a fast, stills-optimised ring-type USM Ultrasonic Motor and a smooth, silent video-optimised STM Stepping Motor. This dual-purpose AF motor also offers faster performance throughout the zoom range. An Image Stabiliser compensates for up to four stops of camera shake for sharper handheld shooting, and a Dynamic IS function works to reduce camera shake when recording video. This lens is also compatible with the optional PZ-E1 Power Zoom Adapter for more natural and silent zooming control when recording video.
Optically it features one Ultra-Low Dispersion element and one precision moulded aspherical element to reduce chromatic aberrations throughout the zoom range and limit spherical aberrations and distortions, for increased clarity and sharpness. The exterior of the lens features a smooth satin finish, metal lens mount, dedicated focus mode and Image Stabiliser switches, and a black ring that clearly separates the zoom and focus rings for intuitive handling.
