The black 12mm f/2 NCS CS Lens for Sony E-Mount (APS-C) from Samyang is a manual focus wide-angle prime lens with a 35mm equivalent focal length of 18mm, designed specifically for use with Sony APS-C format image sensors. With a fast maximum aperture of f/2 it is well-suited to working in low-light conditions, and is ideal for photographing architecture, indoor and landscapes. A six-blade aperture closes to create a near full circle for smooth out of focus areas.

It features one aspherical element, one hybrid aspherical element and three elements made of low dispersion glass to minimise chromatic aberrations and distortion for sharp true-colour images. A Nano Coating System (NCS) has also been applied to the lens elements to reduce surface reflections and prevent lens flare and ghosting. The lens barrel is built with aluminum alloy and it includes a removable petal-style lens hood.
